The Magic Castle Reopens May 21st, 2021!
After being closed for over 14 months due to COVID-19, the world famous Magic Castle is slated to reopen next week. The venue is home to some of the best magicians in the world and is the community spot for magicians in Los Angeles. Having grown up in Los Angeles, I started performing at the Magic Castle when I was 14 years old and have always had a connection to the community and space. I’m glad it’s coming back.
The Magic Castle’s interior is essentially a modified victorian mansion—a terrible interior design for considerations like social distancing. As such, the Magic Castle hasn’t been able to “pivot” in the same way other restaurants and venues have and though they had online shows with virtual magicians performing, so much of the Castle’s value is the venue and the feeling you have when you are *there*.
The Magic Castle is a cultural landmark in Los Angeles with truly nothing else like it in the world. It’s great that as Los Angeles reopens, its cultural and artistic spaces can return, reminding us of what makes this city so unique. With pent up demand, reservations will book far in advance.
